Suicide is a preventable death.

Every year thousands of people from every walk of life find themselves without hope and without a way to stop the pain. If their cry for help isn’t heard or recognized, these brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, seniors, adults, adolescents and youth, from all walks of life, of every color, creed, income level, gender, nationality and social status will be lost to us. No number of deaths by suicide can ever be considered an “acceptable level”.

Each year more than 30,000 people take their own lives.

SUICIDE is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States as per 2007 official statistics.

Homicide is the 15th leading cause of death - more people kill themselves than are killed by others.

Federal, State and County Statistical analysis of data on suicide deaths are generally delayed by two to three years depending on the source. Therefore, for calendar year 2010, 2007 is the most recent data available.
